For works published before 1900, try to use a modern scholarly edition. Include the publisher and place of publication in your record, if this information is available, as well as the original date of publication. Always enter the publication year for the edition you are referencing in the Year field.

If there is no modern edition, cite to the first edition, whenever possible, and include all information available. If you cannot locate the name of the publisher, this information may be omitted.
