The copy functions in Citation work much as they do in your word processor.

Copy text from a record to a word processing document
You can copy text from your records to your word processing document either as straight text, or formatted as a citation.

To copy text from a field to a word processing document as unformatted text

  1. Mark the text you want to copy, then press , or choose Edit, Copy Text.
  2. Use to switch to your word processor window.
  3. Position the cursor to place the copied text, then press , or choose Edit, Paste.
To copy a citation from the Preview box to your document
  1. Click View, Preview box, and set the Style to your preference.
  2. Position the cursor in your word processing document for inserting the citation.
  3. Click Insert on the Citation Preview box. The citation will be inserted into your document at the cursor position.
To copy a Cite Key (Access Phrase) to your document
  1. Position the cursor in your word processing document for inserting the Cite Key.
  2. Click the Cite button, and enter any relevant specific page references in the Cite dialog. A Cite Key for the record will be inserted into your document at the cursor position.

Copy text from a word processing document to a record
You can copy text from a word processing document to a record in your datafile.

To copy text from a word processing document to a field in a record

  1. Select the text in your document that you want to copy, then press .
  2. Position the cursor in your Citation record to place the copied text, then press , or choose Edit, Paste Text.
You can use this technique to move bibliographic information or notes from your word processing documents into Citation records.

Copy text from one field to another

  1. Select the text you want to copy, then press , or Edit, Copy Text.
  2. Position the cursor to place the copied text, then press , or Edit, Paste Text.
Copy record
  1. With the record you want to copy on the screen, choose Edit, Copy Record.
  2. Move to the place in your datafile where you want to insert the copied record, and choose Edit, Paste Record. Citation places the record before the record on the screen.
This technique is particularly useful if you need to enter several notes from the same work, or several essays published in the same collection. If you copy a record as a template, make certain you edit the Cite Key so that it is unique.
