Purpose and importance of citations.
General descriptions of different types of citation systems.
Glossaries and definitions.
StyleGuide
Most styleguides are designed to address the needs of students in a specific discipline. Citation's Styleguide is unique in it's comprehensiveness, basing examples and instructions on sources encountered in a wide range of disciplines: Anthropology, Biology, Geology, Literary Studies, Medicine, Philosophy, Psychology, Religious Studies, Sociology - etc. As a result, students and teachers will find Citation's styleguide more useful than any other. Included in the Citation StyleGuide are helpful indexes using the numbering systems for examples in the most widely used styleguides for students: APA, MLA, and Turabian.
Forms
Forms for different types of source works, with labels for the different bibliographic information items associated with that type of source, (click here to view the complete list of data entry forms in Citation) are much more effective than ordinary styleguides for teaching students the basics of documenting sources. Entering bibliographic information on a source, using Citation's forms, teaches a student to recognize different kinds of sources more readily, and to grasp the importance of things like edition descriptions and specific page references.
Citation lets students build a personal database with their own research efforts on issues that are of interest to them - letting them add to research sources and findings as they move through coursework toward the thesis writing process. Researching a topic on a continuing basis, building one's understanding - a process that will become invaluable in the professional world - becomes a basic part of a routine with Citation.
